If a cell phone can hold a 3000+ mAh battery, there is no reason that radio manufacturers can’t do the same. Bottom line: you will get a nice radio with upgraded chipset, a few Watts more output power, a good antenna and good looks. This is a short review – the Baofeng GT-3TP from Sainsonic is essentially a GT-3 Mark II with some extra power on board. What I found really interesting with the Baofeng GT-3TP dual band was the transmit audio and signal quality.But I would recommend passing this radio up for a BF-F8HP instead, so that you can interchange batteries with other operators in a pinch (every ham I know has at least one UV-5r or BF-F8HP), and so that you can avoid possible QC rumors.
