About this deal

I shouldn't have raised my expectations since I generally tend to be bored with Greek Mythology but Hercules is one of my favorite Disney movies so I was really excited for the twisted tale In “Almost There,” Tiana has the life she’s always wished for — her previously-deceased father is alive and well, and they have finally opened a restaurant together. But this life came at a hefty price; she had to make a deal with Dr. Facilier. When Tiana and Dr. Facilier confront each other, Tiana threatens to destroy his precious talisman. Similar to a dream sequence in the movie, he presents a life to her where all her dreams have come true; all she has to do is add a drop of a potion — provided by his friends on the other side — into her signature gumbo dish at her future restaurant and the life is hers. So instead of turning Dr. Facilier away, Tiana has no choice but to accept the deal after he threatens those she loves. A Twisted Tale, also called Twisted Tales in editions with the complete series, is an anthology series of books based around alternate " What if" spins on Disney animated and Pixar films. They are published by Disney-Hyperion, and written by different authors, including Liz Braswell, Jen Calonita, Elizabeth Lim, and Farrah Rochon. [1] Books [ edit ] A Whole New World (2015) [ edit ]

Well, that was disappointing. I had high hopes for this one for two reasons. First, I adore the movie Hercules. Second, I read the Mulan retelling from this series written by Elizabeth Lim and loved it. I hoped this one would be as good. Buuuuuuut... it's not. Rochon, Farrah (September 6, 2022). Almost There: A Twisted Tale. Disney-Hyperion. ISBN 9781368077569.Anyone can relate to Tiana and her choices so everyone can enjoy this story. And anyone can benefit from this great representation of New Orleans in the early 1900s. I recommend Almost There to everyone and all ages. Curl up with this book and some beignets this fall and enjoy! Unfortunately, sometimes when things sound too good to be true, they are. As Tiana finds herself navigating her new reality, she also begins to notice strange occurrences popping up everywhere around her. Meg fell for man after trying to betray him then he became a god. What’s a girl to do with that except become a god herself. It’s not that simple but it is so fun.

His parents aren't going to stand for that though; no way. Hera, seeing how happy Meg makes her son, however, offers Meg a deal; a way for her to earn her way into a spot on Mount Olympus. Thank you so much to the publisher, Disney Books and Disney Audio, for providing me copies to read and review. That out of the way - We have a delightful young woman, Tiana, who loves to cook and wants to open her own restaurant in New Orleans. It is due to her agreement with the villainous Dr. Facilier that she not only gets her father helping her dream (he died in World War I) as well as an eatery popular among many locals and more. But Facilier wants to change the agreement they made and is pressuring Tiana with eerie happenings around the city and disappearing friends. c) Hercules is his father's doormat. He is capable of taking down the Titans and he couldn't even have a proper spare with Zeus- really. The good thing here is that I read an arc rather than spending money on it. Because if I had I would be pretty annoyed right now. More annoyed than I am at wasting my time trying to give this one a chance.

Go the Distance twists the tale of Hercules. Asking what would happen if Meg was offered the chance to become a goddess and be with Hercules forever. But to do so she has to go on a time-limited quest. Can she make it?I can proudly say that I read every book in the series so far .. and this one lies in the middle of how much I enjoyed it .. I noticed a common theme in the later books that they disregard the original material (the movie) to take so much liberty with the story ..like this book ..it's like the movie didn't even happen and we didn't even meet Mama Ode again :'( It was also nice to have voodoo explained as being a religion that focuses on good energy instead of dark magic, as it is often shown in the media. A hard line was made between the dark energy that Dr. Facilier used, and voodoo, which was refreshing. I always hate when religions or cultures are misrepresented due to popular prejudice. Rochon makes sure to avoid this in her book. I’d like to start this review off by saying I am a huge fan of Hercules (the Disney movie, of course). I became obsessed with it when I was young and it has been a part of my life ever since. So, as you can probably imagine, I was overjoyed when I saw this book (there’s never any Hercules retellings!) As you can also imagine, because of that, it was incredibly important to me that this was an accurate representation and continuation of the characters and story I love. FINALLY!! I've been waiting for Tiana's book for almost four years now!! Really hope it's on par with Reflection, aka the best book in the Twisted Tales series. Club Villain • Castle of Magical Dreams • Midship Detective Agency • Princess Fairytale Hall • Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom • Tiana's Bayou Adventure

Meg is strong, honest, independent and nearly fearless in reaching her goals. I loved her strength and her ability to question herself. The story takes place right at the end of the movie when Tiana and Dr. Facilier have their final confrontation, but instead of Tiana breaking the vile of Neveen's blood se makes a deal with the Shadow man, in exchange of her giving him the vile he will grant her utmost wish, he will return her father from death!! .. one year later, Tiana opened her restaurant with her father, and Neveen doesn't remember Tiana and the adventure he had with her.. just that she is very interesting to him and he have new notions about turning his life around .. but the shadow man is in trouble .. if he doesn't get Tiana to sign the agreement to sell out her soul before Mardi Gras, he will have to give his soul to his friends on the other side I really had a fun time reading this story. I love Megara. She's one of my favorite characters within the Disney universe. She's smart, snarky and not constantly looking for a man to save her. I don’t know why I keep reading the Twisted Tales 🥴 Every time I expect something different, but I’m just left with this feeling of incompleteness. I will say I’m super happy that Tiana got her own story, because I feel like she’s an underrated princess who never really got her time in the limelight. It was also really nice to read something where she’s not a frog for 3/4 of the story…

d) WTF happened with HADES? (and there was hardly anything at all of Panic and Pain. Really Disney, Hades was much better in Descendants 3. But after a while, her hometown grows increasingly eerie, with new threats cropping up from unlikely places. Navigating through this strange new New Orleans, Tiana must work alongside Naveen and Charlotte to set things right―or risk losing everything she holds dear. I LOVE THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, I LOVE TIANA AND CHARLOTTE AND THE PRINCE AND BASICALLY EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER EVEN EVANGELINE. If there’s one thing Disney movies are known for, it’s their fairy-tale endings where the protagonists live “happily ever after,” and “The Princess and the Frog” is no different. However, “Almost There” starts at a point where Tiana and Naveen haven’t gotten their happily ever after yet, and it’s a mystery whether or not they will even get one due to the terms of Tiana’s deal. Since the deal allowed Naveen to turn human again, he consequently forgot the adventure he and Tiana had as frogs. I worried that Naveen’s character growth ( rare for a Disney prince) would vanish in this new storyline, but Rochon proved me wrong. Naveen works at Charlotte’s father’s sugar factory and expresses his desire to make a name for himself in New Orleans, inspired by Tiana’s hard work and determination.
