About this deal

The 15mm 22mm pipe bender or tube bender is an essential part of the toolkit for any heating or plumbing engineer.

But when it comes to buying new ones, I guess it’s Silverline that stands out as the biggest contender to Hilmor. The image to the right shows that the pipe has been flattened by just under 0.4mm – the basic reason for this is that the formers are not quite correct for 4mm pipe or that there is a tendency for the two sides of the former to move apart during the forming process. I suspect that this is actually due to a combination of these: poor fit and forms coming apart. Spare formers and guides are essential accessories for pipe benders, as they help to ensure accurate and consistent bends in pipes. Formers are shaped pieces of metal or plastic that are placed inside the pipe to help guide it as it is being bent. Guides are used to hold the pipe in place and prevent it from slipping or moving during the bending process. We have also designed bending arm extension handles to increase the leverage for bending both 15mm 22mm copper pipe. These short threaded extension handles code 1224M fit both the 15mm XV XVE & XVL and 22mm XXII versions. One or more extension handles can be added for additional leverage. Copper isn’t cheap so that’s money right there, going to waste. More importantly, it’s wasting time. We posed this question through the Tooltalk App (see all the answers in the app available for iOS or Android AOS). We have included bending angles of 30 45 60 and 90 degrees on the XV and XVL 15mm versions and an additional 75 degree angle on the 22mm version; these are easily visible on the Former of each bender.

A. Cheap thin wall copper doesn’t help the issue, there was a batch a few years ago that was actually snapping. Damaged formers or the guide on bender itself can also do it. Or guides, formers that are not clean (Answered by PG Plumbing on 26 Jan 2021) Before you remove the pipe from the Former, view your bend angle; remove the pipe if it is correct, or if necessary, reapply the Lever Arm and increase the bend angle. Frequently Asked Questions FAQsA. Pipe wall size is a lot thinner than it used to be, plus the pipe bender former could be stiff (Answered by D S plumbing and heating on 26 Jan 2021) throating occurs on testing with the XV, XVE (XVL) XXII, XXIIE as well as Monument 2600K and a Hilmor® GLM XV is much smaller than a combi; arm length is 40cm compared to a combi arm length of 65cm. Note the 15mm XVL & 22mm XXII arm lengths are about 60cm When Monument look to design, manufacture and market a new product we look to create products which will save the engineer time. In this particular instance, we have designed a smaller and lighter weight pipe bender than the standard combination 15and 22mm hand bender. Mark the pipe where you want start of the bend. Position the pipe in the Former under the Retaining Hook. Position the start of bend vertically in line with the Pivot Pin.
