To unpair the Joy-Cons, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the blue information icon, and then hit Disconnect. BetterJoy is free software you can download from GitHub that allows you to use your Joy-Cons either individually or as one controller.This is pushed onto the controllers not only providing them with better ergonomics and more grip, but also two shoulder buttons and a hand loop in case you really get into your game.
